Tuesday: Spring/Break Art Show
There was already a line around the block when we arrived at the Spring / Break Art Show. A seemingly endless amount of artists took over this dilapidated Catholic school on the Lower East Side and an even larger number of patrons, collectors, and gallerists had turned up to see what they’d made. As we approached the entrance we spotted the cause of the delay—Ambre Kelly was busy with a pair of enormous bolt cutters trying to snap a rusted old lock, which was keeping the VIP entrance chained shut. There was a resounding pop as Ambre freed the chain on the old gate and escorted us through. It was such a dramatic way to kick off the show and the week of art, which we’d like to see become a yearly ritual.
