1. WHY To Leave
My first party years, I saw no reason to go home, ever. I stayed out long after the after-party and after-after party—the latter only being a title hosts gives to those mornings spent coaxing creepy dealers to leave. Usually, I’d split around noon, only because by then I was late to work. I used to carry a huge, hideous purse bursting with extra clothes and toiletries, so I wouldn’t have to go home to change for days. Why was I avoiding my place? Many reasons…like, it was one hour of public transport away! Also, I didn’t want to clean up after my roommate! Somehow, being alone in silence of home reminded me that I was failing school and letting my parents down! Mostly, though, I assumed something fantastic would happen outside and I was terrified to miss it.
