Certainly a far cry from Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin but alas, times have changed.
This summer, the iconic 1969 music festival (that pretty much defined a generation) will be celebrating its 50th anniversary with a weekend-long revival back in upstate New York. And while the vibe might be different, the lineup is certainly impressive for a 2019 crowd. But let's just hope it's not a re-do of the infamous shitshow that was Woodstock '99.
Besides Jay-Z and Miley Cyrus, headlining performers include The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Halsey, and Chance The Rapper. But purists will be pleased that a few throwbacks have also made the list, including Santana and Dead & Company, Robert Plant, and David Crosby.
Taking place from August 16 - 18, Woodstock 50 aims to recapture the spirit of the original - "to unite people in a shared experience with great artists, and encourage active support of equality, inclusion and a shared sustainable future." As such, the event has partnered with a number of nonprofits, including Miley's Happy Hippie Foundation and March For Our Lives.
