LazyEyes

Band: LazyEyes Who: Drummer Jeremy Sampson CMJ Show: Oct. 17, 10 p.m. at Webster Hall Link: www.lazyeyesbk.bandcamp.com 1) How would you describe your personal style? Has it changed since Lazyeyes began? Hipster doofus? If that's a thing. Usually button down plaids or a solid shirt, dark blue jeans, leather boots or sneakers, and a pea coat. Winter in New York is awesome because I like wearing hats and jackets, and people think it's weird when I do that in July. We all dress pretty similarly, except Alex and Paul have some awesome leather jackets. 2) What three things can you not perform or party without? Well, we can't perform well without our instruments. And there's usually a copious amount of beer helping us out. I would say that we can't either perform or party without our friends and the people that inspire us either. Cute, right? 3) Do you have a favorite place to shop in NYC? I really like Beacon's Closet in Brooklyn because I got this awesome pair of leather boots there for $40. I'm also a big fan of Banana Republic. They have the best jeans and fitted dress shirts. 4) Do you have any pre-show rituals? We all hang out together and nerd out over the set list and how we want the performance to be. Our singer Jason always makes them for us on Photoshop and prints them out. Every show it's a different picture of some kind of animal, like a monkey in a diaper or one of those LOLcat things with the songs listed over it. We have some drinks, talk about what we didn't do as well as we wanted at the last gig, shake hands, and then all of a sudden boom - we're onstage, it's hot and the lights are really bright, and in the blink of an eye it's over. It's a rush. 5) Where are people most likely to find you when you aren't playing? We go out a lot as a band so we're often together. We seem to spend a lot of time in the North Brooklyn area - Greenpoint, Williamsburg, Bushwick, etc. Generally we try to help support our friends in bands that we respect and admire, so most nights even if we're not playing we're probably at a show anyways, enjoying the music and people. There's also been a lot of nights that ended with a diner like Kelloggs or San Loco. [Photo via]
