4. Com Truise Com Truise hails from New Jersey. Not exactly from NYC, but close enough that Com Truise qualifies to be on this list for his tracks that hit close to home. Com Truise’s galactic beats translated well to the SXSW audience during his multiple performances at Beauty Bar and Club DeVille. A marriage between hip-hop and electronic sounds that are short of being in a 1980’s film score may be a more relevant way to describe what Com Truise is all about. Com Truise was joined by a live drummer. The percussion helped lead the audience into a mystical world of dance. The lack of vocals, lyrics, and other distortions helped maintain a clean sound. Songs like “Cathode Girls” and “Brokendate” had the crowd moving, although it is easy to imagine Com Truise being played in a lounge driven setting, with cocktails and conversation. Com Truise will be playing at The Music Hall of Williamsburg on April 19th.
