At this point, if you haven't heard of Flynn McGarry, that's really on you. The now 19-year-old has been making culinary waves for years with features in The New York Times, The New Yorker, and more. Most recently, he went from curating a 16-course chef's counter tasting menu, to opening a critically acclaimed restaurant of his own, Gem. So yeah, he's kind of a big deal.
But while it may be easy to oversimplify the wunderkind's success, none of it has been without its struggles, set backs, and intense hard work.
Following his journey starting at the age of 16 (when he was casually operating gourmet tasting menus out of his family's home), the new documentary Chef Flynn is a must-see. Opening November 9th in limited theaters, you can catch the film at Film Forum.
