HG: It's not kid-friendly anymore. It's sad because New York has lost its 'number one' as a leader in the arts, and if it continues to do so, I'm afraid that young kids will not want to come here. Because you have cities like Detroit and Mexico City, Berlin, if you're an artist why would you come here? If you're from the Midwest, why would you move here? I mean it has so much culture because of the people, but if you're an artist and you're young, you can't afford to live here; it's not friendly. Especially because downtown has become so much like Mayfair, and it's sad because before you would get all these weird writers from Oklahoma or Ohio that would want to come here and become a writer or a singer or the kid coming from Jersey or the kids coming from upstate and now they can't. What happened to the underdog, from Pittsburgh? Like Warhol? What happened to the weird little artist from North Carolina that came here and could afford to rent a room for 600 bucks and just fucking wing it? So all these artists are leaving, and if we lose New York it will be very sad, because New York to me is my home. Harif Guzman
