How do you go about getting to know your clients personally?
I see how they live, the clothes they wear, the trips they've taken, the restaurants they like, the movies they watch. Visually, people have filters. Whether they are conscious about it or not, those filters pick up a lot of their tastes. A lot of people gravitate towards the same colors. I ask a lot of questions. I think that period of getting to know them and seeing what tickles their fancy takes about a week or two, and then I take all that information and based on their budget, I put together a visual plan.
So it’s just about really getting to know them, and not just “do you like leather or suede.” That’s not how you get to know people. It’s more about their interests, who they are, things that excite them; all those things matter.
