There Are Legit Safety Risks
For solo travelers, especially women, life on the road can be incredibly risky.
While 28-year-old influencer Susi Cruz, from Germany, says she's been living her dream since she quit school to embrace the nomad life in her pink Volkswagen T3 van, she admits she's had plenty of scary experiences.
"I've had breakdowns, an accident with a hit and run and being alone, I've been sexually harassed too - almost raped," she told the Daily Mail.
Unfortunately, those are all-too-familiar scenarios for female travelers, whether or not they're based out of a van.
"I'm resilient and I always have the confidence to keep going," Susi continued. Nevertheless, it's important to consider the dangers behind the Instagram lifestyle before embarking on the (literal and figurative) journey.
