Go out without a plan in mind
Just winging it and bar-hopping sounds good in theory, but you'd be surprised how many crappy dive bars are having ticketed events tonight or at the very least, will have lines out the door. If you don't want to spend Halloween wandering the streets in your costume, come up with some sort of plan. Then again, I did follow some guy wearing a Deadmau5 mask for blocks one year and ended up at a pretty cool party, so hey.
