Who are some of your style icons?
Keith Richards and Frida Khalo and Jimi Hendrix and Patti Smith come to mind. Each respectively put themselves together very non self-consciously; a colorful melange that has a story. I like things that are imperfect and have a grittiness and age to them. I can't really relate to the polished look - perhaps because I am just hopeless when it comes to grooming or keeping my boots polished! Also characters from literature: The little Prince, Puss in Boots and the Artful dodger; the essence and insouciance is so appealing to me. My parents are pretty sublime sartorialists. My mother and her mix of Cartier bracelets and African beads, and my father with his hat collection and ability to mix patterns and textures. Girls who know who they are and dress how they feel and don't care what you think. That's the girl who always inspires me.
