Why is it do you think that American women adore and go crazy for this myth of the effortless, chic French girl?
I think they get this image because it’s pretty true actually. When you see French women, the way they are, how they dress and everything, it’s something much more relaxed. I think the fascination comes from the fact they really strive to perfection in America, the idea of bettering yourself and being your best self. I think we don’t really have that in France… we’re more about cultivating who you are and all that. Of course everybody wants to be better, and it’s a real culture in America - the idea you have to be perfect - and it’s great in many ways! That’s why I live in America, the drive and the positivity and everything. But what it means, it makes things more complicated sometimes. And for fashion, you have to be into it more than really push. I think that’s what’s so fascinating about American women for French women, that they love that they always go for perfection. How can I do that better? My makeup has to be professional level. My hair has to be perfect curly. In France, it’s more ‘So this is who I am,’ and it’s more simple.
