“I ran Huffpo’s live blog coverage and it’s because nobody challenged me for it because nobody wanted to do it because live blogging wasn’t a thing."

Rachel: “Glynnis gets up really early so she would get up at six am and she would do the headlines.” Glynnis: “I was in book publishing, I would do the foreign rights scout, so I used to get up and do Huffington Post posts before I went to work and then …” R: Her posts would be called ‘Need To Know,’ like whatever you need to know in the morning for Eat The Press...” G: “…and that was 2007 and the Obama, Hilary Clinton election coverage started really early. We started live blogging the 2008 election in 2007, before live blogs were a thing. There were three live blogs of those early debates, there was ours, Wonkette’s and the NYTimes' Kit Seelye and that was it. There was no tech to live blog, so it was myself and Rachel and then a guest, like Lloyd Grove, or Hilary Rosen, or someone like that, and we’d all put it in a chat window and Rachel would have to copy it out of the chat window and put it into the system and code it by hand.” R: “I ran Huffpo’s live blog coverage in 2008- nobody challenged me for it because nobody wanted to do it because live blogging wasn’t a thing. By the end of the election, though, everybody was live blogging.” G: “And there was no twitter in 2007. I mean it existed but it wasn't widely used beyond the early core tech community so it’s not like there was a twitter function to follow- people got that kind of real-time reaction coverage from live blogs."
