I see that you use the term ‘New Luxury’ a lot on the site. What exactly does that represent? MB: It’s really going back to what luxury used to be. It was about how a product was put together, the craftsmanship behind it. It was about using the best raw materials you could possibly get to really get the finest product. That was what luxury was. In the era of fast fashion, it’s become more about what label you slap on it. So, in fact, ‘new luxury,’ is traditional luxury. It’s what luxury should be. It’s those products, as Soraya was saying, that are going to live in your closet for years, that you’re going to want to wear, that you feel really good in because the fabric is nice and it’s constructed well. That’s a luxurious experience. And so many brands today are really just shell companies. They’re outsourcing their labels, their manufacturers, and so there’s a total disconnect between the label on the product and what you’re actually buying. So we just want to get back to the root of things and really understand who makes our products. [Photo via]
