We love the special edition tote bag. 100% of proceeds are going back to the library. What does the NYPL mean to you?
Monica: To me, The New York Public Library means an oasis for all generations in bustling city.
Lucy: The New York Public Library is part of the fabric of being a native New Yorker. When I was a kid, I spent many summer hours in the Library. Getting your first library card was a really big deal, it felt very official and grownup -like a driver’s license. It was a sign of increased maturity and independence. You could choose whatever book you wanted— what freedom (but also responsibility)! The Library is a fantastic resource for everyone, it is the master source of the printed page. I love that it is free and everyone is welcome. It is also one of the last remaining places to work or read where you cannot talk on a cell phone — a quiet place in the city is very important to me.
