That baby of yours will be a toddler in the blink of a tired eye, so don’t register solely for infant and baby items. You’ll need a convertible car seat, an umbrella stroller and a high chair too. You might as well tack these big ticket items onto your registry while friends and family are doing the buying.Takeaway: Register for baby and toddler items. 2.) Don’t fall for a “universal” registry. Those boutique registries where you can compile things from anywhere on the interwebs are great in theory and downright miserable in execution – just try returning something to a kids store based in Copenhagen. Opt for Diapers.com or Buy Buy Baby where you can get everything you actually need, easily return things you don’t and replace things quickly.Takeaway: Pick one or two bigger stores to register. 3.) Don’t lavish the baby just yet. A newborn does not need furry, glam booties. Or any shoes for that matter. If you ever remember to put them on for an awww-inducing Insta post, they probably won’t even fit anymore. And skip cashmere – not because it’s hard to maintain (dry cleaning baby clothes is silly), but because seeing your babe outgrow a $150 sweater in three weeks is crushing. There are so many things you do need (a swing, diapers, onesies) that it’s a waste to register for fancy things you don’t. Takeaway: Prioritize practical items.
