In some ways, it all started with a bad haircut, no?

I basically cut my hair one night, myself - I thought it was a good idea - and then I ended up having to shave my head. So I started making hats that looked that haircut hats, with feathers. And then I was walking around in SoHo one day shopping, and store owners were like “Where’d you get your hat?” and I had some stores that were interested in my hats and started carrying them. Soon after I had an appointment with Barneys, I started carrying there, and that’s how I started my brand. I’m always experimenting with my hair, so now as a hat designer, it’s like if I have a bad haircut, I have a hat!
