Why: The New York Public Library Young Lions Fiction Award is a $10,000 prize awarded each spring to a writer age 35 or younger for a novel or a collection of short stories. This prize is part of The New York Public Library's Young Lions Program, which is a membership group for people in their 20s and 30s who are committed to lifelong learning and advancing the crucial work of the New York Public Library.
