Why: From the Garden of Eden To Giverny showcases two never before exhibited collections of work by internationally acclaimed artist Domingo Zapata. Zapata presents his Water lilies series, a collection of large scale paintings based on the late works of Impressionist master, Claude Monet. In this exhibition, Zapata reimagines these masterful works of natural escapism, as if they have been papered onto New York’s city streets today. Tagged with graffiti and propelled into the present by contemporary language and gesture, the artist brings attention to the lack of both solitude and nature in contemporary life
