No matter which coast you happen to catch her on, native New Yorker-slash-aspirational Angeleno Casey Fremont is guaranteed to be the coolest person in the room.
After all, she is the Executive Director of Art Production Fund, responsible for commissioning some of the most ambitious and exciting public art projects across the country. Obviously, she's got quite the discerning eye - and she uses it well after work hours.
From her style to her social presence to - duh - her shopping list, Casey can be counted on for her fabulous taste and creative curation. Whether it's art or the art of gift-giving, she's clearly a pro.
Wondering what's on her list to give and to get this year? Us too!
How do you celebrate the holidays?
I love to keep it low key and cozy with my family, parents, kids, friends. Every year is different, but no matter where we are I’ll force my kids to wear matching pajamas on Christmas Eve.
Where will you be this season?
This year we are spending Christmas in LA. My family is coming in from NY so we’re planning the greatest hits for New Yorkers in LA - fake snow at the malls, a flocked tree, really leaning in to the Hollywood holidays! Luckily there’s a Saks in Beverly Hills in case we get homesick and need a classic New York shopping fix. I’ll just be missing cocktails and apps at L’Avenue…
Are you a last-minute or way-in-advance shopper?
Last minute, although every year I swear I won’t be. Sob…
What's the best gift you've ever given?
Last year my father, sister and I designed a Sherman Field locket for my mother, we chose adorable photos and lyrics from one of her favorite John Prine songs engraved on the inside. Sherman Field makes GORGEOUS, heirloom pieces and highly recommend if you’re looking for a super special gift.
Who's the toughest to shop for on your list?
My husband… I just literally never know! I usually end up getting something for “him” that’s really for “us,” because why not? He’s a chef… So maybe I’ll get him the Estelle Colored Glass cake stands… or stuff his stocking with some Brightland olive oil. But also for sure the Ghetto Gastro Cookbook.
What's your go-to hostess gift?
Something delicious always goes over well - a bottle of nice champagne, or a solid party mix (because who doesn’t love a party mix!?) like Westbourne’s Togarashi Crunch is a fave of mine to give and receive. And I think it’s ALWAYS chic to send flowers post event. If you’re in LA, I love Bia Blooms or True Blue Blooms or in NYC, Flower Witch.
Favorite spots around town to pick up something in person?
John Derian has the best gifts and is a holiday installation like no other. The Grey Pearl on University Place is new and I want just about everything in the store… great host gifts there too!
What's on your list to get?
Tom Sachs Shop Chairs are on my forever wish list, and I’m obsessed with ARTEL etched crystal mushroom glasses - please can someone get me those! - and a Tiffany knot ring, among many other things. And please stuff my stocking with some Goop Glow, some Dr Barbara Sturm and Brother Vellies cloud socks.
Everyone says I’m impossible to shop for, so I hope this helps!
What's on your list to give?
Definitely a dollhouse for my youngest son, and my new go to gift for pretty much everyone is a monogrammed Leatherology train case - so chic and LOVED by all!
