Guests in the fashion, entertainment, and publishing world came together at Cedar Lake on West 26th Street to celebrate Francois Nars' Makeup Your Mind: Express Yourself. Alexa Chung, Calvin Klein and his partner Nick Gruber, Vogue 's Grace Coddington, Fern Mallis, Carol Alt, Eddie Borgo, Anna Sui, and more congratulated the legendary makeup artist. The mood was set by the Maselli brothers, Adrien & Anthony, who flew in from Paris specifically for the event.
Other guests in attendance included Tinlsey Mortimer, Byrdie Bell, Erin Fetherston, Becka Diamond, Amanda Lepore, model Andrej Pejic, Mickey Boardman, Richie Rich, Andrew Bevan and more.
The legendary makeup artist's new book incorporates his two passions, makeup and photography. François escapes to a high level of creativity by turning the lens on real people, exposing the powerful character of beauty in personal transformation. The picture book illustrates the transformative power of makeup through instructional diagrams and sketches. It not only provides insider knowledge from François himself, it also encourages one to be who they are to express their full potential and individual natural tones.

With summer fast approaching I could not resist asking Mr. Nars and a few of his guest what their plans are for the summer holiday which starts this weekend. The lovely Grace Coddington from Conde Nast took a moment to explain she is ready to relax at her home surrounded by her loving animals, her cats in particular. She is a huge fan of these amazing creatures. Grace expressed her passion for great food and her love for her dear friend David Chang glorious high- angle Vietnamese-French restaurant located in Midtown @ 15 W. 56th St. She recommended securing a seat in this exclusive and in demand restaurant.

Additionally, I managed to sneak a Q&A with the iconic Mr. Nars himself, he stated, he will be spending his summer in Bora Bora and will miss his Soba Ya on East 9th. His beauty tip for the summer was to avoid the sun and make sure you invest in the variety of hats available to prevent the rays from your face and most importantly the best accessory for summer is sunscreen. Slather it on and protect your skin from those awful harmful rays.
