Would You Pay $100 For A Gold-Infused Lobster Roll?

By now we all know that gold flakes on food are pretty tasteless (in more ways than one), if not slightly metallic. But a new Brooklyn eatery, set to open this Saturday in Crown Heights, is keeping the gold-infused food trend alive. In this case, with lobster rolls.

BK Lobster, which appears to be a new franchise with locations scheduled to open in Harlem, Miami, and L.A., will serve up a 24K-infused lobster roll for $100. It'll be laced with edible gold leaves and paired with a glass of wine, also featuring gold flakes. Because your shellfish can never come with too much bling.

If you happen not to be Jonathan Cheban, however, there will be other tasty, and more affordable, lobster roll creations, with names and flavors inspired by the eatery's home borough: the Bay Ridge Roll, the Coney Island Roll, and the Flatbush Roll, which boasts jerk sauce in reference to the neighborhood's Caribbean community.

Ridiculous gold gimmick aside, the place certainly seems to be a must-visit for lobster roll obsessives looking to try something new in a fast-casual setting. Who knows? It might become the Shake Shack of lobster.
