Some people were just born with the picnic-packing gene. They boast an innate sense of the perfect cheese-to-cured-meat-to-cracker ratio, enough foresight to bring napkins and utensils, and a preternatural ability to create some semblance of a tablescape on a blanket laid out on an uneven plot of urban lawn.
For those of us who weren't, well, there's no shame in letting a professional do the work for you. Especially if said professional happens to be from Olmsted, the foodie destination where the "farm-to-table" fare quite literally comes from its own backyard.
Last summer the Prospect Heights staple earned even more buzz thanks to the launch of its "Summer Camp," a picnic-esque dining experience featuring an elevated menu of nostalgic classics. The playful tradition is back this year with Wagyu Beef Corn Dogs, Nashville Hot Fried Soft Shell Crabs, and S'mores on deck. Due to its popularity, however, reservations might be hard to come by, but that's no reason to give up on your gourmet cravings or impressive day date plans.
This summer, you don't need a table to enjoy Olmsted's acclaimed summertime bites al fresco. The restaurant has teamed up with everyone's favorite bougie water brand, S.Pellegrino, to launch a pre-packed picnic basket that lets you take the spread anywhere.
Each "basket" (which is actually a really nice insulated tote bag) includes Olmsted's cold fried chicken, grilled asparagus with summer sauce, a rotating dessert selection from pastry chef Alex Grunert, and refreshing beverages including a 1L bottle of S.Pellegrino and custom cocktails featuring Sanpellegrino Italian Sparkling Drinks. In addition to the reusable tote, you get specialty glassware, utensils, and a bottle opener for all your future picnic needs.
Delicious food, booze, and Insta-worthy bragging rights with absolutely none of the work? Truly a picnic that lazy dreams are made of.
The Olmsted x S.Pellegrino Summer Picnic Baskets are available for pickup every weekend and can be ordered on Resy HERE. All you need to worry about is securing a date - and the perfect spot to spread out in Prospect Park during peak hours.
