How has being in the food industry affected your relationship to your body?
I’m around delicious food all the time, and it’s actually really helped me to remember that nothing has to be off limits. But I also don’t ever have to over indulge because chances are I’ll be eating something just as scrumptious again very soon. I invented my two-bite rule (the first to sample and see what’s going on in a dish, the second to indulge and savor) early on at The Chew, and it’s carried with me the last decade. It helps to remember that typically every bite after that tastes kind of the same, so I make a conscious choice about whether I want to keep enjoying or save up for something else. I also start most of my meals with a big serving of salad or vegetables and use everything else as side dishes that let me explore and celebrate rather than how I’m going to fill up.
