Tell us about the Naam Dev school initiative!
Child welfare and education are causes close to our hearts and we hope to expand on contributing to these efforts as our business grows. We've worked with the Naam Dev School, an informal initiative in Bagru, home to our block printers. They provide supplemental education in a positive environment, which includes a meal to kids from all casts, many who don't attend school regularly. We're excited about a new partnership with Tabaar, an NGO in Jaipur providing a slew of resources to kids in difficult situations, whether orphaned, living on the streets or removed from their homes. Among other programs, they have a school, two homes, mobile healthcare, and a heartbreaking program involving meeting kids at train stations to intercept them as they arrive in the city alone for a variety of reasons. The goal is to thwart the typical path of these kids that leads to a dangerous and sometimes drug or crime filled life on the streets. More on this in 2018!
