Saturday's mermaid parade could be described as a madri gras for New York, but seeing as this is New York, it was definitely going be to more theatrical. As someone, who attended last years as well, it was easy to spot the same cast of characters making appearances. Some 600 groups of people marched this year all with some theme related to water, even if loosly related. People of all ages from kids in strollers to those with canes dressed up to be a part of the parade. The parade was a blast with cheering and smiles all around
