Samantha Sheinson, AKA @TheNYBlonde, is just one of those girls who makes you realize that you wear leggings like waaaaayyy too often. The stylish New Yorker is all the fashion inspiration you need as you move into the new year. Because let's be real, you and your wardrobe could stand to start putting together some looks together again.
Curious what Samantha's style ideas are for celebrating New Year's Eve chez vous or, for the courageous among us, braving the cold outside at a restaurant?
What are your New Year's Eve plans this year?
This year my husband and I will ring in the New Year at home in the city. We will most likely order in from a favorite restaurant and go to bed WAY before the clock strikes 12.
Are you normally a big NYE person?
I love NYE, but as I’ve gotten older, the holiday isn’t as celebratory for me. Under normal circumstances, there are a lot of holiday events in the city leading up to the actual holiday itself. By the time New Year's Eve arrives, I’m ready to relax at home with my husband and close friends.
What are your top outfit contenders for ringing in 2021 at the moment?
Loungewear with a touch of sequins.
I found an amazing all over pink sequin look that’s comfortable to lounge in, but glam enough to ring in 2021.
How would you describe your style?
Whimsically sophisticated.
When it comes to sequins - do you think less is more, or more is never enough?
It’s NYE - you may as well rock as many sequins as possible. More is never enough!
What ensemble would you recommend for someone looking to upgrade a night on the couch?
Add a touch a sparkle! The pink sequin set I plan on wearing is the perfect NYE lounge-worthy upgrade outfit.
What about dinner at a restaurant outside in the cold?
Weather permitting, I would happily eat at a restaurant outside. If that’s the case, I’m wearing the warmest coat I own which happens to be one of the chicest coats in my closet. A patchwork shearling by Ulla Johnson. It’s basically like wearing a big blanket.
Or for a Zoom soirée?
I’m getting all dolled up for a Zoom soirée!
Sequins, feather trims and lots of champagne!
What's your favorite NYE look from years past?
About ten years ago I celebrated NYE in Center City, Philadelphia and wore the most fabulous outfit! It was a black, mini poufy skirt paired with a cropped halter top. I accessorized with black opaque stockings and a pair of black Chanel booties I bought on Ebay. I loved that outfit! Honestly, I would wear it again if I still owned those pieces.
Any resolutions for 2021?
I only hope to spend as much time as possible with friends and family in 2021. And to travel more!
