Katie Lee Joel, Alexis Clark, Samantha Mathis, Susan Shin, John Stossel, Neil Etheridge, Christopher Dunagan, and George Goldsmith all enjoyed an evening screening of Magnolia Picutres' latest inspiration, hosted by Coralie Charriol Paul and her new film series, React To Film.
Socials and film industry heavy hitters engaged in a post-screening debate, discussing the ideas around the film's central theme of industrial food production and the hidden costs behind the Dollar Menu. The film is largely based on the bestseller books "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser and "An Omnivore's Dilemma" by Michael Pollan. Participant Media, which helped turn "An Inconvenient Truth" into a catalyst for global warming awareness, is overseeing the film's social outreach and ultimately hoping to transform Americans' views on industrial food production, much the way "An Inconvenient Truth" helped turn global warming into a top national priority. As if Manhattan needed any more reason to drop by the Green Market this summer.
