'Tis the season for making a list and checking it twice. But of course, chic, meaningful, unique gifts don't just find themselves!
Natalie Bloomingdale's site The SIL is the ultimate shopping destination, showcasing exclusive pieces from twenty five independent, female designers from across the globe.
Hot on the release of The SIL's new holiday capsule collection, which features looks from Tish Cox, Hayden Lasher (the great grand niece of Henri Bendel!), Daphne Wilde, BURU and Mi Golondrina, we caught up with Natalie to scoop what she'll be giving and (hopefully) getting this year!
How are you preparing for the holiday season? By having my painter come over for some touch-ups - somehow, there are wine stains on the walls from our last dinner party!
Any holiday traditions you always look forward to?
I love going home to Vernon, Texas.
What occasions will you be getting most dressed up for?
I believe in the art of getting dressed for all occasions.
What's your take on 'festive attire’?
Hmm... maybe a long, vintage brocade dress with mink cuffs!
I love jacquard fabrics, brocades - aren’t they festive?
How did you go about choosing the brands to collaborate with?
The designers behind the brands are all such lovely people. It’s easy to work with pleasant, talented entrepreneurs.
Which pieces from The SIL's new holiday capsule will you be wearing on repeat?
That hunter green Hayden Lasher handbag goes with everything!
Besides The SIL, where are your favorite places to hunt for gifts?
I always shop small business - I think that’s very important!
I never get out of Beretta Gallery without finding some gorgeous gift.
I just discovered Sonia Boyajian, who has such a chic store / studio in Los Angeles. She makes every delightful thing by hand.
What gift are you secretly hoping to get?
I’d like a new pair of gloves from Perrin Paris. They closed their Beverly Hills store, so someone’s going to need to go to Paris!
What are you most excited for next?
I’m very happy about the shift towards conscious consumption and appreciation for slow fashion. Our business model is very much geared toward that whole notion, and I am excited for all the creatives whose work we get to see shine!
