Many gave up their more than gorgeous day out in the Hamptons this past Saturday to attend a cozy charity luncheon benefiting the American Red Cross hosted by luxury lifestyle maven, Mina-Jacqueline Au, in the casual waterfront community of Edgewater, NJ.
Mina-Jacqueline began rallying to raise money for the American Red Cross when a devastating earthquake hit China in May of this year resulting in a death toll of 65,000 and counting. When Mina-Jacqueline tried to request for her charity-driven church (a large church community on the Upper East Side with over several thousand members) to allow the American Red Cross to set up a table during service to collect funds to aid the relief efforts, her (again, very charity-driven) church refused.
Known for her fabulous gift bags, Mina-Jacqueline's luncheon was generously sponsored by popular businesses like Whole Foods, Starbucks and Cornelia Day Resort. In keeping with the theme of the luncheon, guests feast on Chinese delicacies (jelly fish, finely braised pork, sesame dumplings soaked in wine … etc.) in Edgewater's authentic Shanghainese eatery, John Shanghai, while vigorously bidding on luxurious and fun items like Yankee game Field Box seats, June Jacobs Luxury Spa Collection and Tiffany & Co home goods, from the silent auction.
Guests that attended the event included some power players of the Chinese community such as finance brothers Herman Poon and Frederick Poon, daughter of famed Shanghai district attorney Sue Li and fiancé Bernard Niam, financier Kevin Wong and his brother Stephen Wong and more.
This event raised a more than satisfying amount of funds for the American Red Cross.
