Remember when Barneys' closing was like the biggest thing going on? Oh, what naive times. How young, how foolish we all were.
While we reported a month back that though the famed department store was closing, their iconic Madison Avenue eatery Freds would be sticking put (you know, before everything in New York closed any way), it's been a big question what will happen to the rest of the building.
According the NY Post a not so stylish name may be taking over, at least some of the space. Eataly is apparently in talks to either lease or buy a portion of former fashion Mecca. In a time where it seems there's never been more empty storefronts on Madison, is an Italian gourmet food emporium really what the neighborhood needs? Or will they be schlepping their salamis out just as quickly as they schlepped them in?
