Last night at Bar 13, Indaba Dance hosted a benefit for the Hetrick-Martin Institute (home of the Harvey Milk High School). Guests were treated to the sounds of DJ McMahon, to sets from Erik Reyes (of Midnight Society) and Elliot DeHoyos (of Slanted Black & Tommy Boy). What’s not to love about an event that benefits LGBT youth, elevates the sometimes dicey reputation of the NYC dance music community, offers two-for-one drink specials, and gives its organizer academic credits?
