10 Cane Rum and the Gramercy Yoo by Philippe Starck (marketed by SHVO) hosted an exclusive cocktail reception, and private sample sale of the S 08 collection for New York-based designer Catherine Fulmer at the exquisite penthouse with one of a kind furniture designed by Phillipe Starck (the last unsold PH at $3.67 million). Socials mingled on the terraces with expansive sunset views over New York City while enjoying fresh mint mojitos by 10 Cane, bright frocks by Fulmer, and special gift bags with VIP membership to Gilt Group. British “It” Girls were everywhere, leading some to comment that Fulmer was the new go-to designer for the international social set.

ABOUT CATHERINE FULMER: The Palm Desert-born Catherine Fulmer, a model-turned-designer whose first training ground was the tight-squeeze of Bungalow 8 booths with the likes of friends Jaime King, Selma Blair, Carmen Kass, and Nicky Hilton. Catherine found her calling dressing A-list party gals in her signature ruched cotton tops and breeches. She briefly attended FIT but decided that meeting and dressing celebrities was better preparation for life as a designer than the classroom. Her pastel silk blazers are loose and structure-less like pajama tops- the better for dancing- and she"ll often throw one over a tank and a mini for a night out. For formal occasions, she has a lineup of dresses from strapless cocktail numbers in yellow or black to belted and slit-to-the-waist robes
"It"s very rich-looking clothing," enthuses supermodel pal Carmen Kass, who loaned Fulmer her first 10K to start the collection. Fulmer calls her clothes "timeless," which to her doesn"t mean that they"ll last for decades but rather that "you can wear them anytime." And while her pals will no doubt continue to drop by her downtown apartment to play dress-up and place custom orders, the rest of us can find her fabulous pieces at such influencer boutiques as Satine in Los Angeles and Eva in New York.
