Blake Lively's Two-In-One Gown Stole The Show On The Met Gala Red Carpet

Given the fact that she's already among the Met Gala's best-dressed MVPs, not to mention one of this year's co-hosts, Blake Lively was expected to wow at the 2022 return of the event. Needless to say, she did not disappoint.

Pulling up to the red carpet in a stunning, intricately detailed Atelier Versace gown (with, of course, hubby Ryan Reynolds on her arm), the star looked the picture of "Gilded Glamour," the evening's dress code, which nods to the very on-trend again Gilded Age of New York.

And if her bustled-with-a-bow gown wasn't already giving Alva Vanderbilt a run for her money, the dress transformed in the middle of the red carpet when Lively's posse helped "unwrap" her, untying the bow and revealing a copper-and-teal skirt beneath.

Besides serving as a perfectly dramatic Met Gala moment, the two-in-one reversible gown pays homage, as Lively herself explained, to none other than the Statue of Liberty, going from metallic brown to the aqua-green of oxidized copper. We mean, the theme is "In America: An Anthology of Fashion," and what could be more American than our girl Liberty?

But that's not the only New York icon the look pays tribute to. Turning to architecture for her inspiration, Lively worked with Versace to tie in Grand Central Station's constellation ceiling on her train, while her Art Deco-patterned bodice resembles the Empire State Building.
