If you were one of the designers who just won a $25,000 grant for your emerging label then you were sure to be at Luxe Laboratory for the winners' breakfast this morning at 8:30 am sharp. Yes, Friday the 13th can be a lucky day. In struggling times, this grant is a godsend for these new labels. And they are in good company as well. Zac Posen, Proenza Schouler, Peter Som, Derek Lam and more all were previous winners.

The recipients are Lyn Devon, Matthew Ames, Cushnie et Ochs by Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs, and Ohne Titel by Alexa Adams and Flora Gill in the women’s design category. Corpus, by Jerrod Cornish and Keith Richardson, was honored for men’s design, and jeweler Monique Péan won for accessories.
The foundation’s inaugural award for sustainable design went to Bodkin Brooklyn designers Eviana Hartman and Samantha Pleet, who create bags out of old leather jackets.
