    Day 5:

This season, HERVE LEGER wrapped models up in signature bandage dresses and separates, shown almost exclusively in black and tan:

It’s always a challenge for designer Max Azria to create a collection which feels refreshing while sticking to the very specific body conscious looks for which Hervé Leger is known. This time around it seems that Azria was looking to add some bondage to the bandage, creating leather strappy vests to accent his already structured garments. In black they were distinctly kinky, while in tan they had a much more equestrian feel.

Inspired by Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, BIBHU MOHAPATRA drew upon the battle between Good and Evil, Dark and Light, “Voodoo and Virtue” when designing the fall 2011 collection. Severe looking models perched motionless on chairs wearing coats made of goat hair and fox fur, mixed with wool trousers and satin dresses. Gowns had more pleats, seams and folds than one could imagine possible – and the clothes felt as dramatic as the smoke filled room.

    IN OTHER NEWS:

VERA WANG played with pleats and drop waists in a collection filled with sheer chiffon dresses and asymmetrical hems, BADGLEY MISHKA also referenced the roaring 20’s with tiered fringe, chokers and elbow length gloves along with bold gowns in teal, royal purple and magenta. RACHEL ROY layered prints on top of prints and mixed with prints, for the fashion equivalent of a “suicide soda.”
