New York Fashion Week Is Still Happening?!

"New York City is the fashion capital of the world and New York Fashion Week celebrates the ingenuity of this city, and our unmatched creative talent," Governor Cuomo said on Wednesday. "When COVID-19 hit New York, so many of our cherished events were forced to cancel or be postponed. The pandemic is far from over, but we're proud to support event organizer IMG in moving forward with NYFW, in adherence with strict state public health guidance. Safety, as always, is our top priority and we commend the hosts, and all participating designers, for their innovative, New York Smart solutions to bring this event to life."

Well that answers the question on everyone's mind as we approach September.

Now I don't know about you, but I'm absolutely amazed at the fact that Cuomo is allowing Fashion Week to commence, especially at Spring Studios. Although Spring Studios does have an outdoors space on its rooftop, the implication is that the majority of runway walking and events will take place inside, given the limited roof and outdoor deck space at Spring Studios' event facility. Nevertheless, Cuomo's statement came with assurance that safety precautions in accordance to state guidelines will be taken, including 50% occupancy and a cap on gatherings to 50 people or less. There will also be plenty of digital presentations thrown into the mix.

NYFW has released an official schedule detailing the itinerary, although it doesn't specify which shows will be held in person and which will be hosted virtually. What we do know? The event is set to look majorly different than it always has. Time to start planning street style looks that coordinate with your mask.
