Landlord
An alumni of Central St. Martins and Parsons, Brooklyn based Ryohei Kawanishi launched in collaboration with a US military factory three years ago. Since his very first Reggae and Harlem inspired collection, he's been one of the hottest and talked about streetwear designers on the block. It's a far cry from where he was raised in rural Japan, making clothes as a way to escape the boredom.
Landlord is constructed in a military factory, which means the staff knows how to make uniforms fit for exact military specifications. Kawanishi wants to bring a young taste to his pieces, while still being grounded in military structural principles. Casual yet sturdy, his collections are often nostalgic - making us dream of the oversized silhouettes of the early aughts. He already has a cult following, and is about to blow up even more.
