Taylor Swift's mascara ad banned

9. Taylor Swift's CoverGirl mascara ad is banned in the US. Taking a page out of the UK's Advertising Standards Authority, the US's National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus Claims (or, NAD) banned the print ads for CoverGirl NatureLuxe Mousse Mascara, fronted by TSwift. The mascara ads made claims like "2X more volume" and "20 percent lighter" but followed it with "lashes enhanced in post production" in fine print.
NAD director Andrea Levine tells Business Insider"You can't use a photograph to demonstrate how a cosmetic will look after it is applied to a woman's face and then - in the mice type - have a disclosure that says 'okay, not really.'"
Lawyers wouldn't have jobs if important information wasn't printed in "mice type" (which, by the way, is now a favorite phrase!). [TheCut]
