Dear Natty –I’m not really a girlie girl, but I’m curious about trying the floral prints trend… any tips for wearing flowers without feeling like a grandma? - Flowers Under the Age of 85?
Dear Flowers –
Floral prints are a great way to get into spring spirit, even if you’re not a geriatric. Luckily there are loads of ways to indulge in the trend that WON’T make you feel like your name should be Pearl.
First off, go for a large-scale floral print - rather than a tiny repeating pattern. The more solid color you have in the piece, the more modern the effect will be. You can also layer on a menswear piece like a blazer, or something sporty like an anorak. This is especially helpful for dresses, where the print is the focal point.
If you’re thinking of a floral blouse or skirt, try mixing it with another print – such as a stripe. Mixing prints is another big trend this season, and will keep the look feeling young and fresh.
