Skirts and Dresses
Don't trade your summer skirts and dresses for spandex shorts or a "cycle-friendly" get up. This is New York and everything is possible. Wear your skirt or dress and pedal your way from point A to point B.
Here's how: find an elastic band (headband or even a garter) that fits around your thigh, then attach a safety pin to it and slip it on so it's above your knee. Then, once your on your bike safety pin the elastic ban to the inside of your skirt.

Heels
Forget about wearing your sneakers while riding a bike. As long as you can walk 3 blocks in heels then riding a bike in them will be easy. Some skeptics think that riding a bike in heels is impossible. Well, we're here to prove them wrong because it CAN be done with two simple tricks
Pedal with the toes/balls of your feet
Keep your heel up
You may also want to consider the sole of your shoe. Is it made of wood and very slippery? Just hold on tight to the handle bars. And if all else fails, just put on your best pair of flats and carry those killer heels in your bike basket to show them off.
