Last night Viktor & Spoils showed off their cocktails and menu at their preview party for the new taqueria and tequila bar at the Hotel on Rivington. Guests, such as Patricia Field, enjoyed the Mexican inspired drinks, and Paul Sevigny, along with Michael Baltra, provided the tunes.
Chef John Kellner and Jason Apfelbaum opened the restaurant after a journey to Mexico, where they were introduced to local farmers and recipes.
With a casual and approachable feel, Viktor & Spoils is the second in a series of concepts being launched by Alan Philips and partner Jason Apfelbaum at the Hotel on Rivington and will pair high quality ingredients with classic and new style preparations for a menu of tacos and taquitos. Signature menu items include Housemade Chorizo Tacos with Cilantro-Avocado Crema & Pickled Red Onion, Cactus Tempura Tacos with Aji Panca Sauce, Pickled Jalapeno, Radish, & Cotija Cheese, and Elote Corn & Lobster with grilled corn, chili-lime mayo, Cojita cheese, and fresh lobster, and signature cocktail offerings include the Oaxacan Dream, the La Vida Buena, the Anejo Smash and the $69 Decadent Daisy made with Don Julio 1942 Anejo Tequila, Grand Marnier 100th Anniversary, Del Maguey Santo Domingo Albarradas Mezcal, fresh tangerine, fresh lime and agave.
Viktor & Spoils was designed by DeVinn Bruce, whose previous projects includes CO-OP Food & Drink at the Hotel on Rivington taking inspiration from Lower East Side bodegas and beach towns in Mexico.
