Lady Gaga
While we all know the lyrics to Lady Gaga's songs, from her first hit "Just Dance" to songs like "Alejandro," what many of us may not be familiar with is the star's mission to stop bullying. Glamour Magazine awarded the pop star for her tireless efforts to help end the ongoing battle of bullying. In 2011, Gaga started the Born This Way Foundation, an organization that helps teens and young adult cope with bullying through self-expression.
Marina Abromovic presented the award to Lady Gaga. She said,
"
A true artist has to have a very strong sense of purpose. The guiding light that you have to go for it no matter what. This is something you don't learn."
Lady gaga was, as she puts it, "
born this way."
While giving her speech, Gaga explained
"I'm a pop star in disguise. My true passion is spreading love."
Gaga also voiced her opinions on her photograph featured on the cover of Glamour Magazine,
"I felt it was too beautiful. I felt my skin looked too perfect, and my hair looked too soft. I believe my true mission is to inspire young people to fight back against forces that make them feel like they're not beautiful or important."
