Luxury lifestyle magazine Robb Report hosted an event at the Plaza Hotel's Rose Club on Wednesday night. After undergoing a massive renovation to the tune of $450 million, it's no wonder why the magazine which caters to the ultra rich would choose a hotel that managed to sell Donatella Versace designed apartments in this economy.
The Rose Club is part of the new fifth avenue lobby, and by the looks of this lavish hot pink mess, the club is something out of Candace Bushnell's Sex and the City imagination. This pink venue was once the famed Persian Room, and played host to the likes of Duke Ellington, Billie Holliday, and Miles Davis. Though it doesn't necessarily host the same jazz crowd as it once did, the club still draws the filthy rich refined types.
But don't be fooled by the Plaza's pursuit of the old school through restorations of its original 1900's design: most of the wealthy attendees looked fresh out of their debutante dresses which is completely appropriate since the Plaza basement is actually a "shopping" mall now. There's nothing more 1900s traditional than a shopping complex and a hot pink party, right?! Right.
