PS1 Warm Up Series Tackles Animal Collective And Kiddy Pools

Outdoor drinkers and toddlers alike flocked to MoMa's PS 1 installation on Long Island City over the weekend. On Saturday afternoon, the critically acclaimed Warm Up summer concert series welcomed Animal Collective, Vancouver's Babe Rainbow, Prince Rama and others to its indie sound-stage. Everyone knows that a concert series in NYC - we've counted 17 so far! - isn't a MoMa concert series without your average keg, kiddy pool, and schnazzy toddler...-

The Museum of Modern Art's PS 1 Warm Up Series is a multi-week summer concert series that takes place every Saturday afternoon in the PS1 courtyard in Queens. The concerts are housed within the architectural installation of the museum's Young Architects Program winner. Last week, the MoMa showcased DJ sets by Ratatat, Air France, and Justin Miller; this week, Animal Collective.

Besides the future of architecture, the family friendly, outdoor drinking affair also features some of the best crowd pleasing (that means electro-pop, techno, etc.) international music acts. So if you were wondering how the heck you'd pregame a subsequent 12 hour Brooklyn fire party, this week's MoMa concert was probably your best bet.

Yes, spherical seating arrangements and an endless supply of beer kegs to the backdrop of Animal Collective discography sounds like an ideal summer afternoon in New York City. But nothing lends itself to an alfresco summer bar quite like well-dressed, hipster offspring contained by an inflatable pool and a few feet of white netting.
