Hopefully, most people are by now aware of the FEED Foundation and its mission: $10 can provide school meals to 100 children in Rwanda, and $100 can feed 2 Kenyan children in school for one year. Now, the foundation, which was founded by Lauren Bush and Ellen Gustafson, is setting its sights on a systemic overhaul of the global food system.-
The 30 Project, which launched on Saturday with a party at the Chelsea Art Museum, is committed to changing the current food system in the next 30 years so that all people have access to the nutritious food they need to thrive.
"The combined practices of companies, governments and individuals has led to a food system that does not serve the needs of many, many people...the 30 project is about changing that system."
The project is launching with 30 events to help raise funds and awareness. The first of these was last Saturday's NY event, where guests were invited to snack, shop for FEED products, and strategize about ways to fix the current 30-year old system. A similar event will be held in Los Angeles next Thursday.
