Certainly there's no more beautiful a spot for hosting a party in New York than Eerdmans, and Wednesday evening that was true as ever as the art-filled townhouse opened it doors to aesthetes and design favorites to celebrate Mottahedeh and their new book, Splendid Setting: 100 Years of Mottahedeh Design.
The gallery's bright lacquered chartreuse salon was peppered with the historic brand's ceramic designs, which will continue to be on view through June 14th. The room transformed into a feast of florals, Keith Carroll whimsical flower arrangements and E Braun and Co.'s beautiful table linens set quite the scene for the collection of Mottahedeh's fine porcelain dining pieces, reproductions of historic, rare pieces.
Inspired by a vegetable garden, the main dining tablescape featured ceramic bunnies and vegetables mixed in with expertly sourced farmers market treasures. A wall display of ceramic birds on brackets took reference from the ever chic Jayne Wrightsman's iconic New York apartment. A collection of classic blue and white pieces dressed the breakfront.
Guests mused about the space late into the evening, taking a turn about the garden, picking at Mottahedeh owner Wendy Kvalheim's much beloved cookies, mushroom-shaped meringues and chocolate walnut cherry jumbles.
