On Tuesday, The Cinema Society hosted an exclusive screening of Netflix's buzzed-about new film, Barry, chronicling the college life of one Barack Obama in the '80s. Set in New York City during the year he transferred to Columbia for undergrad, we watch as director Vikram Gandhi leads newcomer Devon Terrell on a winding journey through the streets of Manhattan, in a coming of age story of which everyone knows the ending. Terrell, an American-Australian newcomer, steals the show in his first major role (as the young, to-be leader of the free world, no less), telling Vogue that his goal was "not to glorify [Barack] or bash him in any way, but to tell the truth." And that he certainly does.
After a VIP viewing at the Landmark Sunshine theater, cast and crew joined guests like Fab 5 Freddy, Cory Bond, Sophie Elgort, and Timo Weiland at the newly opened Society Cafe for an after-bash fit for a president. Click through for a look at what you missed!
