At last night's Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards, Marc Jacobs was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. While he isn't the youngest designer to receive this, at just 48 he is definitely going down as one of fashion's greats. We can't help but give homage to one of our favorite designers.

Career
After graduating from the Parsons New School of Design, Jacobs began to design for the Perry Ellis line after its founder, Perry Ellis, passed away. Along with business partner, Robert Duffy, Marc introduced his first collection for the Marc Jacobs Label. Just a year after launching the brand, Jacobs was awarded The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent, becoming the youngest person to ever receive the award.
Since then, he has received a multitude of nominations and awards. Seriously, the list goes on and on. On top of having his own line, with 3 branch lines including a kids line, Jacobs is the Creative Director at Louis Vuitton and introduced the label's first ever ready to wear collection.
Jacobs is known for the unknown. We have learned that we don't know what to expect from this designer. He is constantly changing his designs and surprising audiences during his runway shows. He has worked with celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Sofia Coppola and Dakota Fanning among others.

Why We Care
The question is, what wouldn't we care? Aside from the fact that we want to purchase everything in his West Village store, he is constantly coming up with new styles each season, keeping things fresh and fun.
Not to mention he has become a bit of a celebrity and philanthropist himself. When he isn't busy playing design roles on essentially 4 different clothing lines, he is hosting parties (like Sunday's Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic) and hitting the hottest events in and out of New York City. It is obvious that Marc is here to stay.
