Um, Should We Be Worried About Birkin Bag Machete Attacks?!

Let's be honest, if you're spending upwards of ten, twenty, or thirty thousand dollars on an Hermès Birkin purse, you've probably done two things: One, made peace with the fact that it's an ephemeral object that could be lost, damaged, or stolen at any moment, and two, gotten it insured.

And while wear and tear is one thing, who the hell is prepared to protect their Birkin bag from... a machete?!

Julia Fox, that's who.

In a recent TikTok video, the actress and downtown girl-about-town showed off one of her (apparently multiple) Birkins, claiming that it had been damaged in a machete (!!!) attack. As far as we know, it is *not* the one famously gifted to her for her birthday by ex Kanye West.

"I love her, but she’s been through a lot," Fox said in the video, before zooming in on a nick in the leather purse. "She was actually attacked by a machete. I’m not kidding — that actually happened to this bag. And me... I was holding on to this Birkin for my life."

Um, that's terrifying.

And while her fans and followers obviously wanted to know more about this designer-bag-damaging machete attack, the only follow-up she provided was to say she wasn't "a snitch." Which, fair - you probably don't want to rile up the person who carries around a machete.

Now since we don't know where, how, or why this incident occurred, we'd say your Birkin is probably as safe as it usually is on the streets of Manhattan, so long as you don't find yourself involved in any Julia Fox-adjacent situations. Just remember to carry with care!
